Congratulations to George Roberts who has brought together a team to bid successfully for funding to develop and pilot a fully online version of First Steps into Teaching as an open online course.

The OpenLine project has been awarded £20,000 under the HEA/JISC Open Educational Resources programme.

It will engage Brookes staff with notions of open academic practice through their participation in the PCTHE. The funding will allow us to run part of the PCTHE as an online open course in June 2012. The course will be offered free to the global online academic community.

The project offers:

  • Brookes staff a way of accessing the First Steps into Teaching course in an online format.
  • stimulating discussion around open educational resources (part of our strategy of using RADAR) and open academic practices
  • a trial whether we can/should offer MOOCs as part of OCSLD’s external offer of online courses

The project team members are:

  • George Roberts, OCSLD
  • Mary Deane, OCSLD,
  • Marion Waite, Department of Clinical Health Care.
  • Jenny Mackness, independent education consultant
